The
deepening of the approach channel to 14 meters is ongoing and expected to be
completed by end 2006. Depth along the berths will also be increased to 14.2
meters within the same period. The width of the channel is being increased to
207 meters.
Upon
completion in 2006, the port will have the capacity to handle ships up to a
size of 50,000 DWT.
In
parallel, a number of other construction works are on-going. These include the
completion of office and commercial buildings and port roads and related
facilities. All these works will be completed in 2006 as well.
